The common, the uncommon, and the ugly (Grey Ogre)

The common, the uncommon, and the ugly (Grey Ogre)

by GOG Counter

Thanks to the tireless efforts of the staff of Grey Ogre, and the ingenuity of certain members, we are now able to offer commons as well as uncommons via our website! Please bear with us as there may be complications with the inventory, and we look forward to be able to bring you all the Magic for your next Gathering!

State of the Store - COVID19 is the new normal

State of the Store - COVID19 is the new normal

Hi everyone, as we launch a revamped website,  we thought it would be a good time to update everyone on our plans regarding the store, in particular the play space as well as organized play, moving forward. Safety and social responsibilty Our position has always been that the safety of our staff and customers is our highest priority. We employ safe check-in, temperature taking, hand sanitzation, as well as social distancing measures daily, in our bid to do our part in protecting our community from the spread of this virus. We are proud that all of our customers are compliant, and that everyone shares in this unified goal of keeping transmission to a minimum. Play space and organized play To that end, we are yet to find a safe way to ensure that events with large amount of players can be carried out. The nature of Magic: the Gathering organized play is such that players are required to mingle, as part of the Swiss rounds of any event, and as such, we believe it to be in direct violation of governmental measures. The consequences of such a violation are potentially devastating to the health of any involved, never mind the health of our business as a whole. We believe it would be socially irresponsible to organize events in our store, and while we are eager for the day that our customers can get back into the store, no events are currently planned and this will continue until the situation improves. The cards you want, from the safety of your home We will still allow for in-store pickups but we also encourage our customers to take advantage of mailing options to reduce in-person interaction. Version 1 of the website has contributed greatly to the remote retail experience and version 2, with billing in Singapore dollars, is aimed at improving the user experience of our local customers. The 5 year anniversary celebration in the month of September was a massive success and we thank everyone for their loyalty and support. Moving forward into October we are planning more promotions and deals to reward our customers so stay tuned to this space and all our social media to not miss out. As always, we hope everyone continues to stay safe and healthy. All the best and we hope to see you soon.

New Horizons

New Horizons

by Joe Foo Updates

When we last battled for Zendikar, we had just opened our doors on Club Street, aiming to provide a premium space for all things Magic: the Gathering. Five years on, a little older and hopefully a little wiser, the old land rises once again, and with that, we are taking another big step with the official launch of our website.  Over the last month, a Beta test has been ongoing and we've heard the comments and feedback from our friends and customers. We've decided to move away from the previous platform in light of the feedback, and with an eye to providing the following improvements: Ease of viewing and pricing Firstly, we are moving to pricing in Singapore Dollars to make it easier for our local friends to make purchases. Store credit, membership, and the future of the GOG community Secondly, we are going to unify our store credit system into the new website. With the Wizards of the Coast retirement of  DCI numbers, the unique identifier for our old system is now redundant. By moving our store credit over to this new system, we make it far easier for our staff and customers to use and track store credit. You'll get a transaction history and will be able to track your store credit at any time. You'll also be able to apply store credit to purchases on the website and not just at the store. Eventually when it becomes safe to run events again, event management will also be linked to this system. We'll do a more detailed post to ensure everyone is properly introduced to this module so stay tuned for more information. Grey Ogre, Online Finally, we have completed phase one in our efforts to digitized our inventory. All English Foils have been on the website for a while now but you'll also now be able to find all English Rares and Mythics there as well. We've come a long way in these 5 years, and are always looking to improve the experience for our friends and customers. If you have any feedback or queries, please send us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. We are grateful for your support, and hope you'll continue playing the Magic, and staying for the Gathering.
